When morphea affects the face and is erythematous, i.e. in the early (inflammatory) stage, it may mimic SLE or dermatomyositis. One important point to be noted here is that morphea is not photosensitive whereas skin rashes due to SLE & DM may or may not be photosensitive. So absence of photosensitivity should make one think about the possibility of morohea. Our patient had facial rash and inflammatory polyarthritis. When such a scenario is encountered we tend to consider SLE, DM and sarcoidosis. This case teaches us to think about morohea too as a possibility.
